Launching Gav's Foundation

It is still surreal that this foundation is operating. In late September 2015 the foundation was formed in the State of California as a non-profit.  Shortly thereafter we received confirmation from the IRS regarding 501 (c) (3) status.   The process of setting up a website, social media, and other pertinent communication mechanisms was fast and furious.  Certainly there are still typos existing in the paperwork and in our website – if you find one please let us know!  

We formed a Board of Directors on October 3, 2015 and held our inaugural Board Meeting.  The meeting was not without tears and we had to pause a few times to regroup.  The heavy emotional weight of what this foundation actually means is ever present.  We must choose everyday to be steadfast in our mission and ensure that Gavin has a legacy. 

We will continue to learn and evolve as an organization.  We know there is so much more to learn. The more research we do on K9 protective and comfort needs, more conversations with those more knowledgeable, etc. reveals something we simply didn’t know.   Everyday we learn something new and would like to continue to share our learning’s with everyone.
